Event Description
Spectrum and the Department of Chemistry hosted a bias training for the Department of Chemistry community led by Dr. Bentley Gibson, “The Bias Adjuster.” The three hour training required participants to complete several bias assessments. The last hour of the training incorporated activities to create action items to promote diversity and inclusion in the chemistry community. Dr. Gibson provided a writeup of these ideas to seed future Spectrum programming.
Audience
The entire chemistry community was invited to attend the training. The majority of the attendees were chemistry graduate scholars. Only three faculty attended the training. We hope to see more faculty participation in future events of this kind.
