Canvas Site

project Description

As a follow-up to the Spectrum Kick-Off event, the Spectrum Steering Committee created a Canvas site. The site was intended to gather resources for the fledgling program, including:

  • research cited in the kick-off presentation
  • the slides for the kick-off presentation
  • further reading for individual learning
  • the Canvas “name tool” to allow community members to share the correct pronunciation of their name
  • an evaluation form for the kick-off (anonymous)
  • a form to suggest Spectrum programming, readings, or affiliated events
  • a form to apply to be part of the Spectrum advisory board

Many of the people who attended the kick-off subsequently accessed the Canvas site. A main benefit of the site is that it allows for sharing of Emory-owned resources, such as journal articles. However, the fact that the site required users to sign up for the specific Spectrum course seemed to be a barrier. Adoption of the site was not as robust as the steering committee had hoped and the majority of the resoruces on the site are now available on the Spectrum website.

The Canvas site remains available for individual learning.
